Summer of 2010 Science Class Students

SCIENCE CLASSES & CAMPS

Learning science fundamentals helps kids understand why the sky is blue, where fire comes from, and how to transmute water into chocolate milk. Master the elements with The Bug Lady.  During science classes, children 5 and older will soak up a weekly changing curriculum inside the science academy’s 2,500-square-foot facility, with classes covering scientific subjects such as animals, insects, and other science related concepts. Pupils can participate in activities such as feeding demonstrations with tarantulas and lizards or painting with cockroaches.  Children will get to explore science concepts like chemistry, biology, and physics through hands-on experiences.

“SCIENCE IN THE BAG” SCIENCE CLASSES

Dry Ice Experiment

Dry Ice Experiment

Our Science in the Bag program is where we bring  science to you.  We currently offer this  program to preschools, daycares, schools, and home school programs for weekly  or monthly science.  In our “bag” we  bring a little bit of animals and insects and do a lot of hands-on science  experiments.  We can also customize the  program to enhance your curriculum.

All you have to do is set the time and we will handle the rest!  Depending on the age group we will come for an hour to an hour and a half at a time.

Enrollment Info: Science curriculum changes each week. Pre-enrollment is required and you must have an enrollment form on file. All classes are based on availability.  Please call 316-734-6606 or email: bugs@bugladykansas.com for info or to enroll.  Once on our enrollment list you will receive an email the week of class with more info and attached enrollment form.  Our 4-week and 10-week classes must be paid in full by the first class of the new session.

Science Class Info: Our classes are a little bit of animals, insects, and science experiments.  These classes were designed for children that wanted more one-on-one time with the animals and insects.  The Bug Lady also loves other sciences and missed not being able to spend more time with children on other concepts.  These classes can be messy so please dress your children for the ooey-gooey occasion. At our facility our doors will open about 5 minutes prior to allow for us to finish our daily  care for all of our animals.  All our science classes are drop-and-go class so parents do not stay.  Our classes are normally full; because of this our classes are done in a large group format.  We are also limited to seating for just our enrolled students.  If you feel your child cannot attend a large group format class without you then we ask that you wait on enrolling your child.  All care is taken with regards to your child’s safety along with the safety of our animals/insects. As always if you have any questions feel free to reach The Bug Lady at 316-734-6606 anytime.

Bug Lady Educational Seminars

Learn how to make science fun for your students…and YOU!

Come and share an amazing time with the Bug Lady and her animal friends. An experience teacher and just plain animal nut, The Bug Lady shares the benefits of having animals and insects in your program and teaches you the easiest and least expensive ways to obtain and maintain them. She presents animal-based lesson plans that can be taught throughout the year on topics like life cycles, habitats, adaptations, and comparing and contrasting. For fun, she allows participants to observe and handle the animals and demonstrates fun classroom activities like cockroach races and feeding demos.

This program is approved by The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) for 1, 2 or 3 hour credit hours towards in-service requirements. Certificates of completion are awarded once presentation is concluded.

You do not want to pass up this opportunity for an enlightening, fun and laughter-filled experience with The Bug Lady!
